Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner, Board Certified for Care Across the Lifespan
Tracy Romey, MS, PMHNP-BC
Tracy graduated in 1987 with a bachelor of science from South Dakota State University. She attended USD in 1995 pursuing a master's degree in administration. In 2013, Tracy Graduated from South Dakota State University and University of Missouri's psychiatric family nurse practitioner program. Tracy is Board certified by South Dakota's Medical and Nursing Boards for practice. She is also certified for psychiatric care by the American Nurses Credentialing Center.
Tracy has worked as a Psychiatric Nurse practitioner, providing care to children, adolescents, adults, and geriatrics. She has provided mental health care for outpatients, inpatients, juvenile detention centers, telemedicine, telepsychiatry, nursing homes, assisted living centers, and patients who are incarcerated.
Tracy is an owner/operator on a cattle ranch in South Dakota along with her family. She has delivered psychiatric, mental health care for South Dakotans throughout the state and has committed her practice for South Dakotans.
She understands the Midwest mindset, South Dakota values, and the unique set of circumstances we share. South Dakotans are resilient, but often suffer alone or in silence. Tracy believes there is a hope in every circumstance.

Paula Zuccaro, FNP-BC, APCNS-BC
Paula Zuccaro graduated in 1987 with her bachelor’s degree in nursing from Mount Marty College,
master’s degree in nursing in 2006 from University of Phoenix, Family Nurse Practitioner Program in
1992 from the School of Medicine at University of North Dakota, and the Psychiatric Clinical Nurse
Specialist Program in 2008 from University of North Dakota.
Paula retired from Indian Health Service after 23 years of service. She has practiced in a variety of
mental health care settings including inpatient, outpatient, crisis care, jail, juvenile detention center,
eating disorder center, and telemedicine.
Paula has been a presenter at the American Psychiatric Association Annual meeting and the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry on the topic of Telepsychiatry.
Paula was born and raised on the family ranch in western South Dakota. She enjoys spending time with
family and especially with her grandchildren. She also enjoys running, working her quarter horse
program, barrel racing and traveling.

Cynthia Hughes, LPN
Cynthia graduated nursing school in 2004 from Western Dakota Technical Institute and again in 2021 with an associate's degree of applied science in allied health. She has worked as a nurse for 18 years in family practice, long-term care and psychiatry.
Cynthia was born on George Air Force Base in California. She grew up a dependent of the Air Force and has traveled extensively throughout the United States and Europe.
Cynthia enjoys traveling, spending time with her family and watching her grandchildren play sports.
